So I am not sure how many of you are familiar with what a Turing Test is, but basically it is a test proposed to see whether or not a computer system can successfully imitate a human. I’ll spare you the boring details, but if you’re interested you can read about it here.
Anyways, there is a program I use at work, and on one screen it gives a list of names of our clients. It will shorten the longer names… and I noticed that what it displayed for one client is “Bear …turing” (I won’t tell you the full name for the sake of <spooky>confidentiality</spooky>)
The whole point of this is, I now can’t stop thinking about replacing the computer in a Turing test and replacing it with a bear at a keyboard.
Also I removed my eyebrow piercing today, which made me a little sad. It’s tough for me to actually admit “defeat” in that kind of situation. However, I strongly suspected it was beginning to migrate away from my face, so I decided I’d pick my battles, and hope to try again later. At least this way it will minimize the scarring.
So I must have like… reverse SAD or something, because while today was incredibly cold (-22 C) and all around rather miserable, I was in one of thest best moods I’ve been in for a while. I felt very refreshed. Also, I got to send a revised “Job description” to one of my coworkers, and I managed to slip in a few silly things which I heard her chuckling about.
-Data Entry (Skills required: Typing, basic reading comprehension, sight, functioning medulla oblongata. )
Had a good weekend with Shauna, and I won’t be seeing her again until Christmas. This gives me plenty of time to make her the diamond unicorn she has been insisting I promised to get her…
Getting into the spirit, I’ve made a little Christmas theme for my blog!
Edit; Okay it’s more of a general “Winter” theme. So sue me.

So, cars are expensive! Just yesterday I was driving home, and noticed that the heat gauge was going up. Most definitely abnormal. I wasn’t anywhere I could really stop until I got home, but I made it without incident. Checked fluids and stuff, coolant was low. Filled it up with water, and found a leak. Bla bla bla, cost 280$ to fix. Also, I have to replace my front struts, which is probably going to be at least 400$.
Rock Band will have to wait.
So, I’ve just recently started drumming for a band, The Goodness. You wouldn’t have heard of them, unless you were one of the 200 people at the one show they’ve ever played, sometime last year. Anyways, their old drummer has a life, and can’t commit to the band any more, which is where I come in. I’ve only played with them three times, twice with just the guitarist, but it’s a pretty good time. However, they play Ska/Rock, which is a fair bit faster than what I tend to practice, so I’m still working on getting into, and staying in the groove. I also got a new pair of sticks with a textured grip to keep the sticks from slipping so much, but as a result of tonight’s jam I now have a pair of magnificent blisters.
Also, my Protest The Hero vinyl came in the mail today. It was done up in cardboard and duct tape, with the address sharpied on. Hardcore. The box got a bit dented on one side during shipping, but the record is fine. Now to wait to have the house to myself, so I can blast it on the surround in the living room.
CD’s I have bought in the last month or so:
The Wombats – A Guide to Love, Loss & Desparation
Arctic Monkeys – Favourite Worst Nightmare
Led Zeppelin – Mothership (Compliation)
Bachman Turner Overdrive – Greatest Hits (Compilation)
Brand New – The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
Metric – Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
Stars – Do You Trust Your Friends?
System of a Down – Hypnotize
The Faint – Fasciinatiion
Black Kids – Partie Traumatic
Modest Mouse – Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Aaand I think that’s it. I got some money for my birthday so that’s where most of those came from. I will possibly attempt to talk a bit about what I think of them, if I get around to it, as that would be more productive than simply listing what I’ve bought. I also ordered the Kezia record from Protest The Hero on vinyl, but that hasn’t arrived yet.
Also! Stephen Colbert’s A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! It’s amazing.
